Was Ivanka Trump the truth in Lego White House anecdote? | Trump administration

ivanka Trump has been accused of self-plagiarism at the Republican National Convention after her heartbreaking Lego anecdote sounded remarkably familiar – but there may be more to her story if she is given credit for it.

On Thursday, she said, “When Jared and I moved to Washington with our three children, we did not know exactly where we were going. But our children loved it from the beginning. My son Joseph immediately built Grandpa a Lego. “A replica of the White House. The president is still showing it on the mantle in the Oval Office and showing it to world leaders, just so they know he has the biggest grandchildren on earth.”

People observed the similarity with a story that Ivanka Trump told earlier about herself. Andrea Bernstein, a WNYC reporter who wrote the book American Oligarchs about the Trumps, noted that Ivanka said in 2007 that she had once made a Lego model of Trump Tower for her father, only to see it several days later by him criticized because it was not just enough. Bernstein also doubted the truth of the earlier story.

However, there is photographic evidence that, at least as late as March 2019, he was a Lego model of the White House in the White House.

And the president even posed with it.

It does not seem to get the official Lego replica of the White House as part of the Architecture series, more aimed at adults than children. Although there is an earlier smaller Lego version of the White House that it looks like. The model is a bit outdated because it does not have much malignant cultivated rose garden from Melania Trump.

The first lady also had her social media moment in the spotlight on the last night of the convention, wearing a dress that could easily be “green-screened”. The internet soon went to work and for a long time they appeared to be distinctly different from Joe Biden, the death toll from the coronavirus, and the weather.

If there was a prize for awkward moment of the night, it would have to go to this exchange between Ivanka and Melania Trump. There had been reports this week that Stephanie Winston Wolkoff was the first lady to make “harsh remarks” about her fellow Trumps.

Still, no social media fun could be deduced from the fact that Republicans had resisted four days full of apocalyptic predictions for the US should not re-elect the country Donald Trump, in a series of speeches full of falsehoods, many delivered by members of his family,
