Warren Thompson apologizes, wants to play for FSU in 2020

Last Thursday, Florida State redshirt sophomore wide receiver Warren Thompson made national news when he published a statement on social media and raised concerns that he does not feel safe within the FSU football program. Thompson’s mail arrived this morning to fellow recipients DJ Matthews Tweeted and wished he tested positive for COVID-19.

But on Sunday night, Thompson reversed the course and apologized for his actions last week, hoping to mend all the hurdles and rejoin the team for the 2020 football season.

‘With all the fear in the world, the confusion and worry about this matter [have] cloudy judgment on this emerging problem in this country. I apologize for comments earlier this week that did not exactly reflect my feelings for this program and the leadership, “Thompson wrote.

On Friday Mike Norvell was asked if he had communicated with Thompson and he said he had not. Thompson’s status remained in the air all weekend.

Thompson’s statement can be read below:

Thompson has 6 catches for 91 yards in his freshman season. He expects to see more opportunities in 2020.
