After months of unlocking due to the new coronavirus pandemic, the theme parks began a phase resume in mid-July with security measures in place.

Walt Disney World is reducing working hours at all four of its theme parks, following the phased opening last month amid a rise in COVID-19 cases in Florida.

Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close one hour earlier than usual, while Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will open 2 hours a day each day. The changes will begin September 8 and remain in place through October.

After months of closure due to the new coronavirus pandemic, Walt Disney World began a phase opening in mid-July with masks required for guests and staff, and other safety measures in place, such as guidelines for social distance and increased requirements for sterilization and cleaning. To gain access to the park, guests would need to have a reservation and a ticket, as the capacity on a certain number – which was not made public – was assumed to be around 30 percent.

Last week, the Walt Disney Co. the financial impact of their parks being closed, noting a fiscal loss of third quarter of $ 3.5 billion. “Parks, experiences and products revenue for the quarter fell 85 percent to $ 1.0 billion, and segment operating profit fell $ 3.7 billion to a loss of $ 2.0 billion,” the Disney quarterly report stated. The world of Walt Disney came under fire last month for a promotional video of “Welcome Home” that was posted on their social media channels, with masked employees welcoming guests back to the park. Some users on Twitter and Instagram accused the park of endangering its staff and visitors by reopening prematurely, and urging them to close.
