Walt Disney World to Cut Theme Parks Come September – Deadline

Walt Disney World’s four theme parks in Florida will see reduced hours Sept. 8.

Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studio, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and EPCOT are all set to scale back working hours, almost a month after opening in July. While the first three park closing hours will appear to move by an hour, EPCOT will close two hours earlier. The new hours should remain until October.

The change in hours comes nearly a month after parks in Florida opened in July, after closing in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since its inception, Walt Disney World has worked to reduce capacity to ensure the health and safety of visitors. Disney has asked those who enjoy the parks to wear face masks and follow the health and safety guidelines written by officials.

Disney CEO Bob Chapek Says Walt Disney World Seeing Cancellations From Florida’s COVID “Ebb And Flow”

On Tuesday, Walt Disney CEO Bob Chapek and CFO Christine McCarthy said Walt Disney World saw an increased number of cancellations when the park opened during the Florida spike of COVID-19 cases. While Chapek and McCarty said they expected the cancellations, they shared the parks in Florida looked more than expected.

Since closing parks in March, Disney has reported a $ 3.5 billion hit to its theme parks division. While Disney theme parks in the United States are either unoccupied because Anaheim’s Disneyland is still closed, or on limited capacity, some are up and running in Asia and Europe. Shanghai Disney reopened in May and Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disneyland are open to visitors. The Hong Kong resort reopened in June, but days after the gates of the Florida Parks Park opened, after the region saw a surge in cases of coronavirus.

The updated hours of Walt Disney World are as follows:

Disney’s Animal Kingdom: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

EPCOT: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Magic Kingdom: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
