Walt Disney World Resort hotels now provide security warnings after hotel guests were scammed by resort room phones

While staying at the cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, we were struck by an interesting television advertisement for the resort.

We recently told the story that guests at the Walt Disney World Resort hotel had been scammed while staying at hotels. Guests were asked to confirm their address and their credit card information over the phone. Soon after, fraudulent charges are made to these guests’ credit cards.

While watching television in our cabin today, the screen above appeared. In what can be seen as a tacit acknowledgment of the credit card scam we reported earlier this week, it appears that Disney is now warning guests about revealing personal information and is now providing personal security advice.

The tips include:

  • Do not provide your credit card information if you did not initiate the call. Be careful when revealing your credit card number over the phone.
  • Always keep your credit card numbers and receipts safe and out of public view.
  • Keep the doors of your Resort room closed at all times.
