From beautiful house
From groceries to clothing and household items, you can find almost anything at Walmart without going to the bank. And now the mega retailer is expanding its repertoire by offering two socially distant summer entertainment activities, perfect for the whole family.
Mark your calendars this August for Walmart’s self-service drive-in program. Additionally, the retailer’s virtual summer camp will be open to guests on July 8. Celebrity camp counselors like Neil Patrick Harris and Drew Barrymore are sure to keep your family entertained for hours on the touch screen.
Walmart Drive-Theater Program
Starting next month, Walmart will transform 160 of its store parking lots into contactless and driverless movie theaters in partnership with Tribeca Enterprises. Across the country, families will be able to drive for screenings of popular titles and special appearances by filmmakers and celebrities.
Just like in the theater, there will be concessions available for families to eat, plus they will even be delivered directly to their vehicle. Movie buffs can also enjoy the sidewalk pickup of all the essentials before the movie starts.
While the details are still being worked out (including the list of participating locations), the program is slated to run through October. Those interested can find more information at walmartdrive-in.com Closer to August.
Camp Walmart: a celebrity-run virtual summer camp for kids
In addition to transforming select parking lots into outdoor cinemas, Walmart has also created a virtual summer camp experience for children in collaboration with CAMP stores.
Known as Camp by Walmart, the show will feature renowned celebrities like Drew Barrymore, Neil Patrick Harris, LeBron James, Idina Menzel, and Todd Oldham to serve as counselors and guide children through a variety of activities, from arts and crafts even physical exercises.
Starting July 8, kids can access up to 50 free camping experiences through the Walmart app with their families. Throughout the summer, 200 experiences are expected such as “The Great Family Challenge,” where Drew Barrymore leads families through a fun camp-themed makeup tutorial.
Neil Patrick Harris, who holds the rank of Camp Principal Advisor, will also have a series of challenges perfect for the whole family, such as “Neil’s Charades” and Musical Mad Libs.
To keep families active, LeBron James will guide campers through mental and physical activities. Meanwhile, Idina Menzel will help campers practice their singing before the talent show known as “Skills Camp”. Designer Todd Oldham will direct “Smarts and Crafts,” a virtual activity that will teach campers about creativity through the lens of arts, crafts, and fashion.
To access this experience, customers can download the Walmart application and search for “Camp by Walmart” in the Services tab of the application in the bottom navigation bar. Those who already have the application installed may have to update it.
