After months of waiting, the 24-hour pop culture extravaganza that is DC FanDome is finally here! If you do not know what DC FanDome is, you can go for it over here for a quick primer, but the general idea is that DC Entertainment is hosting a completely free, completely online convention-style 24-hour event that will feature tons of top-level talent panels – think Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson, James Gunn, Robert Pattinson, and so much more – to mark their greatest titles in film, television, comics, and games.
With that in mind, we thought it would be fun to do a little festive showdown, this time concentrating on the film and television heroes directly or based on or inspired by DC Comics characters. Of course, there have been dozens of movies and TV shows over the entire lifetime of DC Comics, so it was a bit tricky to limit the roster of characters, even with 64 open slots on the bracket. To make the task manager, we bought all the animated characters to nix (we know; it hurt us to do this too), included only those who are considered heroes in their respective stories, and tried to make sure making the most of the popular or notable contemporary films and series were represented in one way or another. There are a handful of historical portraits, such as some that are famous for perhaps the wrong reasons, thrown for fun and discussion, and in many cases there are similarities between different portraits of the same hero. Eventually we had to kill quite a few of our treasures to make this thing together, so believe us when we say we know the list of characters here is not exhaustive; we could probably make this one twice as big as we really wanted.
So with all the nice things out of the way, do it! Votes in Round 1 of the DC Heroes Showdown end Tuesday, August 25 at 10 a.m. PT, and lead live in Round 2. Cast your votes, and be sure to check back on RT for all the latest updates on DC FanDome!
