Vivo, one of the world’s largest smartphone brands, is expanding its operations in Europe. The company will now sell phones and accessories in six new markets: the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain.
The Vivo X51 is kicking things off with the 5G flagship phone, an essentially rebranded version of the X50 that launched earlier this year. Its main heading feature is a “gimbal-style” camera marrow system that offers many improvements in image stabilization.
Other features of the X51 include UltraWide, 2x and 5x telephoto cameras, Snapdragon 765 processor, 90Hz 6.56-inch 1080p OLED screen, 256GB storage, 4,315mAh battery, and 33W fast charging. It will be priced at 9749 (72 972) in the UK and will go on sale on 29 October.
The company will sell the Y70, Y20 and Y11, cheaper phones, which focus on longer battery life, as well as wireless earbuds and neckbuds.
Vivo is ranked among the top five smartphone vendors worldwide with large market share in regions such as China, India and Southeast Asia. In IDC’s most recent data it surpassed Oppo, however, it shares with the same owner: BBK Electronics, the vast Chinese community that also owns OnePlus and Realm.
Vivo is known for its experimental hardware features that it frequently shows in concept form before shipping to commercial products. The in-display fingerprint sensor and pop-up selfie camera are examples of today’s common space features initiated by Vivo.
