Among the 300 associate professor candidates with sufficient credit votes announced by the State Council of Teachers in 2020, Dr. Le Minh Triet (University of Saigon) is one of the four youngest associate professors born in 1987. At the age of 33 years old, he was appointed associate professor after 10 years teaching and conducting scientific research at the Faculty of Mathematics and Applied Sciences at the University of Saigon.

Le Minh Triet graduated from the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) in 2009. At the moment, he owns a good diploma with 2 scientific articles, of which 1 article is above. international journal SCI ranking Q1 (the journal with the highest position in the IF index). This remarkable achievement helped new graduates at that time to qualify for the graduate entrance examination without going through the master’s program.

In 2010, along with his graduate studies at the University of Natural Sciences, he began teaching at the University of Saigon. After 5 years studying and doing his doctoral thesis, he continued to “come out” with 4 scientific articles in international journals. In which, 2 articles were published in the journal Q1.

Completing his PhD program, in 2015 he was appointed Head of the Department of Mathematical Analysis and in 2016 he simultaneously held the position of Deputy Director of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics at Saigon University. It can be said that, at age 27, it is a great honor to be appointed to a managerial position in a specialized department at the university. But with this new associate professor, it is simply the confidence of superiors.

“In addition to completing professional management, I dedicate a lot of time and enthusiasm to teaching and scientific research,” shared the new associate professor.

Perhaps that is why, in a period of 5 years, despite being busy with management and experience, he still has 9 more articles in international journals, most of which he is the lead author. In addition, he also compiled a series of textbooks and participated in many other scientific and technological research topics.

‘Learn math with love’

What is special among the 14 scientific articles by Associate Professor – Dr. Le Minh Triet is that they all focus on analytical mathematics, specializing in narrow specific derived equations, inverse problems. This direction has been investigated by Triet from the university level, during its doctoral studies to the present. Next time, Triet will continue to research this and expand into other specialties.

To the question of what originated his passion for mathematics, the young scientist’s answer was quite simple: a natural process. Born in Ho Chi Minh City, Triet grew up in a family of three as a math teacher and her mother as an elementary school teacher. However, Triet’s parents never instructed their son to seek a job like him.

“Since I was a child, I liked studying mathematics because I found this subject to be quite good. But when I entered the third year of university, I met the instructor with an easy-to-understand and vivid teaching, I really started my research path. Professional research in mathematics ”Confided the young assistant professor.

From the point of view of an associate dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, mathematics is a special and necessary subject for life. However, the applications of mathematics are often so profound that they cannot usually be clearly identified.

‘If you want to love mathematics, you must learn mathematics with your love, do not learn it in the mind of compulsion, because when it is forced, it easily leads to aversion. Let young people pick up and learn math in high school in a relatively smooth way, do more in-depth research at the university level, if you like, ” said one of the youngest associate professors in 2020.
