Chinese President Xi Jinping called on Chinese soldiers to “maintain a high state of alert” and “put all their minds and strength to prepare for war.”
The Morning Post, citing the CCTV report from the Chinese national television station, said Xi made the request during a visit to the Marines in Chaozhou city, Guangdong province on Monday. 10/13. In the most recent development, Beijing accused Washington of “provoking” after the US destroyer USS John S. McCain was seen traveling in waters near Vietnam’s Paracel Islands in the South China Sea.
In July, US authorities openly declared that China’s claims of sovereignty in the South China Sea were illegal for the first time.
In addition to the South China Sea, the two major powers remain tense over Taiwan, according to Sputnik. Beijing has harshly condemned the recent announcement of the White House plan to sell advanced weapons to this Chinese territory.
