Mr. Mai Van Khiem said, he forecasts that the areas directly affected by Typhoon No. 5 with strong winds of level 10 – level 11 and level 13 are the provinces from Quang Binh to Da Nang. The storm is most powerful when it is about 100 km from the central coast, with the strongest possible wind up to grade 12. The circulation of this storm is very wide, so the provinces from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai are affected.
Due to the influence of Typhoon No. 5, heavy rains will be concentrated in the northern and central central provinces with popular rainfall of 200 to 300 mm. In particular, areas from Quang Tri to Thua Thien – Hue province can rain up to 300 – 400 mm. Mountainous areas are at very high risk of landslides and flash floods, while urban areas face flooding. The central provinces, especially Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, have 98,000 hectares of seasonal rice that need special protection.
