Grab explained that the rate increase is due to the new regulation of Decree 126. that, from December 5 to 5, the value added tax (VAT) of 3% to 10% is applied for technology vehicles.

Along with the decision to increase freight rates, Grab also increased the carpool income deduction for its driving partners GrabCar and GrabBike.

Tech car drivers are worried about losing customers to rising prices

Meanwhile, the Gojek representative said that this business is a connection technology application provider, not a transportation unit, so it is not known whether to apply Decree 126 or not. This problem, Gojek has contacted the authorities for clarification, but has not received an official response. Therefore, the issues regarding rates, discounts and tax deductions for this automotive company have not changed.

As the journalists pointed out Workers On the afternoon of December 5, many Grab passengers said the fare increase was quite high compared to normal. According to Ms Truong Thuy Quynh in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City, she normally booked a GrabBike trip from District 2 to District 10 for around 50,000 VND, now increased to over 60,000 VND.

Some people even said that the price of a tech car has risen for several days, not from December 5 to December 12. Mr. Le Minh Tung in District 1 often uses Grab, Be, Gojek technology, but these days the price is quite high, so he switched to a traditional motorcycle taxi for little money.
