On November 14, the Binh Tan District Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City, said that they were continuing to fight, taking testimony from Le Tan Tai (SN 1984, from An Giang; temporarily residing in Duc Hoa District, Long An Province) to clarify the act of theft.
According to initial testimony, Le Tan Tai was addicted to overcoming the problem, so he owed 200 million VND to many people outside of society. Urged to pay creditors, Tai was distraught.
Bank branch, where the gas impregnation happened to steal the property
On the morning of November 14, Tai dismounted the motorcycle’s license plate and ran from Long An to Ho Chi Minh City to buy gasoline to commit a property theft. Passing by Tran Van Giau Street, Binh Tri Dong B Ward, Binh Tan District, Tai saw the branch of Tien Phong Bank (Tienphong Bank), so he took a risk.
Le Tan Tai was burned with gasoline
Le Tan Tai carried a black backpack with a can of gasoline (5 liters) to go to the transaction counter. Here, Tai took out a gas can from his backpack and gave it a drink, asking the bank staff to put money in his backpack, otherwise he would burn.
Hearing the alarm, the security forces rushed in. Seeing the crowd of guards, Tai immediately ran to the door, setting himself on fire to escape.
Upon receiving the news, the Binh Tri Dong B District Police Patrol Force went to the scene to verify and arrest the subject.
Le Tan Tai was set on fire by people and taken to the Binh Tan District Hospital Emergency Room. Currently, the Binh Tan District Police are investigating and clarifying the case.
