Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi was born in 1976, he is from Ca Mau city, Ca Mau province, he has a PhD in construction engineering science, high-level political theory.

Currently, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi is a member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Provincial Committee, Head of the XIV National Assembly of the Kien Giang National Assembly for the period 2015-2020.

In October 2015, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi was elected Secretary of the Kien Giang Party Committee, Period X, Period 2015-2020. He was also the youngest provincial Party secretary at the time of his election.

Before being transferred to the post of Undersecretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee from March 2014, Mr. Nghi also held various positions: Vice Minister of Construction at the age of 35 and Vice Chancellor of the University of Architecture of the city of Ho Chi Minh. .

From January 1, 2016 to June 9, 2017, the Kien Giang Department of Natural Resources and Environment allowed the separation of 17,808 agricultural plots in Phu Quoc with a small area (less than 500 m2) not for the purpose of agricultural production. During the period, there was no regulation on the division of agricultural land. This violation has made the agricultural land transfer situation in Phu Quoc very complicated.
