Vietnam’s Covid-19 Nano Covax vaccine has a protective effect for more than 6 months

The Vietnamese Covid-19 vaccine can have a protective effect of more than 90% and be effective for at least 6 months.

Since May 2020, the Nanogen company began researching and producing a Covid-19 vaccine called Nanocovax. It is a project by order of the Ministry of Science and Technology, based on recombinant protein technology.

The Nanogen research team has up to 500 people, including about 300 people directly involved in the study of day and night control over the past 6 months.

According to Mr. Ho Nhan, CEO of Nanogen, the most difficult problem in developing the Covid-19 vaccine is choosing the method. The world uses 4 technologies: inactivated virus, RNA technology, virus technology and recombinant protein.

Mr. Ho Nhan spoke on the sidelines of the volunteer recruitment session to participate in the Nanocovax vaccine trial.

In which major pharmaceutical companies, multinational corporations choose the latest mRNA technology, create gene fragments from viral spikes, and then inject them into humans to create immunity. This is the indirect vaccine technology.

After carefully considering the advantages and disadvantages of this technology, Nanogen found that the injected gene is too large, up to several thousand pairs of chromosomes, so the risk of allergy is very great. The body can only take a small percentage to produce antigens, a part is broken down, to enter the stem cells that can be inherited for generations.

Therefore, Nanogen chose recombinant protein technology, a traditional technology that has been used by this company in many other products over the past 10 years. However, the first stage is extremely difficult, due to the creation of protein peaks similar to the peaks of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and cell selectivity.

“Two days ago, the National Ethics Council also asked us why you are doing it so quickly. We honestly answer that the use of artificial intelligence with the support of leading robots in biotechnology research helps to create false spikes faster, ”said Nhan.

Because the SARS-CoV-2 virus was continually changing, from the strain in Wuhan to the strain in Europe, later in the Americas … The Nanogen team spent a lot of time editing the gene segments to vaccinate Have the best effect of protection.

2 Covid-19 Vaccine Products Include Nanogen Injection Form and Aerosol Form

“Nanogen has selected the most common virus strain to research and put into production, so later when SARS-CoV-2 has a strain, the vaccine still produces antigens to adapt,” Nhan said.

Nanogen is also committed to making the Nanocovax vaccine as effective as other products in the world, with 90% of people injected capable of producing an immune response.

However, Nhan said, the Covid-19 vaccine is similar to the flu vaccine, has a protective effect for more than 6 months, and must be repeated every year.

According to Nanogen leaders, Nanocovax, in addition to the disadvantages of wasting time creating lines, has many advantages. Due to direct immunogenesis, higher safety, fewer side effects, easy storage in conventional refrigerator (2-8 degrees C).

The Nanocovax vaccine contains 4 levels of 25 mcg, 50 mcg, 75 mcg, 100 mcg. Due to the government request and price subsidy, the price reaches consumers at 120,000 VND / nose (each dose includes 2 doses).

In addition to intramuscular products, Nanocovax also has an aerosol product for use in children and the elderly, people with underlying diseases.

Beginning on December 17, the Academy of Military Medicine will test Nanocovax injections in people. Phase 1 will have the participation of 60 volunteers; Phase 2 from 400 to 600 people; Phase 3 includes between 1,500 and 3,000 people and will be expanded to 10,000 people.

If the clinical trial is favorable, the 3 phases are expected to be completed in May and then go into mass production.
