The Investigative Security Agency of the Ministry of Public Security has issued a decision to prosecute the accused and take steps to arrest Mr. Chung for the act of appropriating secret documents, some documents related to Nhat Cuong.
The Head of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security To An Xo said that in relation to Nhat Cuong, the Ministry of Public Security had prosecuted 28 defendants for 4 crimes: smuggling, violation of accounting standards, money laundering, violation of fighting rules. The contractor causes serious consequences.
Of the 28 defendants, Bui Quang Huy was charged with all 4 counts. Bui Quang Huy used Nhat Cuong’s legal status to organize the smuggling of 260,000 mobile phones and electronic equipment of all kinds worth 3.2 billion VND. In addition to tax evasion, the production of accounting books to hide tax evasion is about 30 billion.
According to Mr. Xo, the Hanoi Planning and Investment Department digital tender package should clarify the violation of the tender, in which part of the responsibility of Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung.

On August 28, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security announced that it had decided to prosecute the defendant against Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung, President of UND Hanoi, to investigate the appropriation of state secret documents.
Mr. Chung was also arrested and detained for four months, according to the notice from the Ministry of Public Security.
The Supreme People’s Prosecutor’s Office has approved the previous decisions and orders.
Mr. Chung, born in 1967, is reported to reside in Trung Liet Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi City, and is currently the Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee. He was arrested for the act of “appropriation of secret State documents” specified in article 337 of the Penal Code of 2015, modified and supplemented in 2017.
