Canh Kite’s first grade Vietnamese book publishers and authors should develop a plan to correct inappropriate content by November 15th.

On the evening of October 15, the Ministry of Education and Training asked the publisher and author of the Vietnamese first-grade book Canh Kite to edit, correct inappropriate content, and submit it to the National Council for Textbook Evaluation. Before reflecting on the inappropriate content of the book, the Review Board and the author of the book agreed to absorb as much suggestion as possible for a more appropriate editing.

Specifically, the author of the book will edit and complement the linguistic material so that the teacher can substitute some passages and readings to make them more suitable for 1st grade students such as “School of crabs, storks and fish” p. 115, “Two Horses” p. 157, “Tricks, rabbits and tigers” p. 163; at the same time replacing some confusing words, using small words “nhá”, “nom”, “cup”.

The Appraisal Board also recommends that the author, when choosing alternative text, not use fables or “polyphonic” paragraphs and articles, but rather choose paragraphs and articles from Vietnam’s literary treasure.

In addition to the above requirement, the Ministry of Education and Training said that in the next time it will continue to receive comments on the textbooks so that the books are more and more perfect, contributing to the successful implementation of the new general education program.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam requested the Ministry of Education and Training to scientifically respect, study and assimilate the suggestions on the new first grade textbooks.
