By late 2021 and early 2022, Vietnam could produce Covid-19 vaccines, while buying vaccines from the world was “relatively difficult,” according to Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

The last interrogation sessions of the 14th period of the National Assembly began on the morning of November 6. Delegates from parliament raised a number of hot topics, including prevention and control of Covid-19.

Delegate Duong Tan Quan, a doctor at Ba Ria – Vung Tau hospital, said that so far Vietnam has managed to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic, however, the risk of infection is still potential. “Suggest to the government that they know the basic solution to prevent infection in Vietnam and advance vaccine research,” Mr. Quan questioned.

Answer, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said that “the outside is strong and windy, so it must be narrow inside.” Recently, Vietnam has strictly controlled immigration and has implemented many measures to prevent epidemics. According to him, Covid-19 will last at least until the end of 2021.

About vaccinesIn the world, there are more than 150 candidates in the research and testing phase; of which Vietnam has 4. “Out of the 4 vaccine research units in Vietnam, 2 units are expected to start testing the first round in humans by the end of 2020, if convenient we will only produce it by the end of 2021. vaccinated, “said the deputy prime minister.

The World Health Organization and the Global Vaccine Alliance have established a program of 92 participating countries and territories, including Vietnam, with the ambition of providing a cheap vaccine, around $ 2 per person, in the hope of providing by 20 % of people in the world. However, no company has committed to selling vaccines to this alliance.

Vietnam is working with partners, including China and Russia, on vaccines. The Ministry of Health has had specific discussions, but buying vaccines early is not easy, because demand is higher than production capacity and uncertain. The government wants to buy must deposit money in advance, the risk is very high.

“So Vietnam’s most fundamental solution is to continue with solutions to prevent epidemics and live safely with the epidemic,” said the deputy prime minister, seriously suggesting that the leaders of ministries and localities would not be subjective. All establishments, each person, must actively fight against epidemics.

At the interrogation session, many delegates also sent questions to the Minister of Information and Communication, Nguyen Manh Hung. Answering questions about social media, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung said that in the past two years, Vietnamese social media has developed rapidly.

In 2018, Vietnamese social networks had 47 million accounts, equivalent to 50% of the main foreign networks such as Facebook and YouTube. So far, the number has risen to 96 million accounts, which is equivalent to gradually achieving a balance with the previous two social networks.

According to Minister Hung, in recent times, authorities have granted 800 social media licenses in Vietnam, focusing on the market niche. These networks are built with private capital according to the market mechanism, not using the state budget. The Ministry of Information and Communication supports communication mechanisms and policies.

Since national social media is niche focused, having 5-10 million accounts is high. So far, “Vietnam is one of the few countries in the world that has domestic social networks equivalent to foreign ones.”
