Trump’s re-election campaign filed a lawsuit in Nevada to prevent the state from acknowledging Biden’s victory.
The Trump campaign lawsuit requires the court to rule that he must be declared the winner of the Nevada election or cancel the outcome of the state election and not recognize who won.
The plaintiff is a group of Republicans selected by the party as an “electoral college.” If Trump wins the popular vote in Nevada, these six voters will represent the state to vote for him as president.
In the lawsuit, they argued that “fraud and abuse made the proposed election illegal in Nevada,” but did not provide evidence.
This Trump campaign lawsuit targets a signature verifier they deem “flawed” in Nevada. This machine is used in Clark County, including Las Vegas, the most populous city in the state. The Trump campaign also accused Republican observers of not having “meaningful” access to the vote-counting process here.
Dan Kulin, a spokesman for the Clark County electoral body, said the Trump campaign lawsuit appeared to “simply repeat false accusations from party members who did not see it directly.”
“We have not yet seen their lawsuit, but it appears that they are repeating the charges rejected by the court,” Kulin said.
Democrat Joe Biden won 703,486 votes in the state, 33,596 more than President Trump, according to Neveda’s secretary general. The US media predicted that Biden had a firm grasp of six electoral votes in Neveda.
The campaign and previous Trump supporters also filed lawsuits in Pennsylvania, Michigan to prevent state officials from acknowledging Biden’s victory. However, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court dismissed a major lawsuit against him, while Wayne County also confirmed the election results after a few hours of deadlock.
Experts say that without compelling evidence of large-scale or systemic electoral fraud, the legal battle the Trump campaign is waging cannot help turn the tide.
