Playing bored, the sisters called their parents to help them out of the car, their tiny hands clung to their father’s shoulder, they climbed over the “delicious” body. The two sisters’ hair has grown thicker and much longer than at the time they had to shave for surgery. The father said that Truc Nhi and Dieu Nhi are almost the same weight, so the facial features are more similar.

Hoang Truc Nhi and Hoang Dieu Nhi, who live in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, are extremely rare twins. Each baby has two arms, two legs but connects many blood vessels and shares many internal organs, living in symbiosis. The combined defects were discovered early in the fetal period, but the parents were determined to keep the baby. The baby’s mother had a cesarean section. Due to many serious illnesses of preterm birth, immediately after birth, the two babies were taken to the Hung Vuong Obstetric Hospital at the City Children’s Hospital for care and preparation for dissection.
The big surgery to separate the two sisters took place in mid-July this year at City Children’s Hospital. The 13-hour surgery with the participation of 93 best nurses from the South was successful and she underwent three complicated operations, including the separation, reconstruction and rearrangement of the abdominal pelvic organs. Three months after surgery, the babies were released from the hospital to go home.
