On the afternoon of December 29, Mr. Duong Anh Duc – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, confirmed that the test results of a young man named K. “clandestinely” entered District 9, so this person tested positive for COVID-19.
Also according to Mr. Duc, before having positive results, the authorities quarantined those who had close contact with K. The initial test results of these people were negative.
K. was among the group of 6 people who illegally entered Vietnam in the early morning of December 24, including patient 1440 (Vinh Long), patient 1451 (district 5, HCMC), a woman named N. in Dong. Thap (COVID-19 positive on December 29 morning), a man named V. in District 1, and a person named T. in Hoc Mon District.
Of this group of 6 people, except V. in district 1 and T. in Hoc Mon district, had the first negative result for the new strain of corona virus (SARS-CoV-2), the remaining 4 were positive.
In which, the first person discovered was patient 1440. After illegally entering Vietnam and returning home in Mang Thit district, Vinh Long province, his relatives sent him to report and he was found positive for COVID-19 December 26.
Patient 1440 reported living in Myanmar from September to mid-December 2020. On December 15, she left Myanmar, arrived in Mae Sot, Thailand, on December 16, and stayed in a hotel there until December 22 with other five people.
On December 23, a group of 7 people from Thailand to Cambodia. After that, 6 of the group went from Cambodia to Vietnam. Upon reaching the territory of Vietnam, the group headed to Ho Chi Minh City in a 7-seater car (currently the authorities have found a car and driver).
Along the way, Patient 1440 and the woman in Dong Thap parted ways to go west, the rest continued to go to Ho Chi Minh City, including H. (who lives in District 5), V. (District 1) , T. (Hoc Subject) and K. (District 9).
After hearing that a 1440 patient tested positive for COVID-19, H. just published a medical report and obtained a sample to analyze, the results were also positive.
Through tracing, the authorities found T. and V. and took samples for analysis, the results were negative for the first time. Only K. was not found until the night of December 28.
