Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan thanked Ho Chi Minh City to the National Assembly in the last term for taking important decisions to renew the operational institutions of the city.
That is Resolution No. 54 of 2017 on the testing of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of HCMC; The resolution on urban government and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly will now consider and decide on the establishment of the city of Thu Duc.
According to Mr. Nhan, these are the three decisions that show the National Assembly’s great interest in Ho Chi Minh City.
Regarding the project to establish Thu Duc City, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan said that based on the project of a highly interactive creative urban area in eastern Ho Chi Minh City, the location of Thu Duc City Duc will be the center of the knowledge economy, the largest high-tech economic center in Ho Chi Minh City and the country. This is also a city worth living, civilized, clean and beautiful.
In assessing the year 2020, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan said that in the context of both epidemic prevention and economic development, Ho Chi Minh City has quickly prevented an epidemic from occurring. Therefore, the city maintained the growth rate of 1.39% and many other important results, helping to make 2020 a significant year.
In addition, the city is also focused on a number of major projects, including the urban rail project and the project to deal with floods caused by high tides taking into account the factors of climate change. “When these two projects are put into practice, they will make a huge difference in the city,” said Nhan.
However, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan also said that one of the limitations of 2020 is that the investment environment has improved but has not met the requirements. In particular, the types of paperwork that have not yet had a deadline cause frustration for individuals and businesses.
Furthermore, the city has not put all the resources for development into play. “If better land and human resources are promoted, using the public investment budget more effectively, the city will surely grow more than 1.39%,” said Nhan.
The Permanent National Assembly is about to discuss the establishment of Thu Duc City (PLO) – Mr. Uong Chu Luu – Vice President of the National Assembly, said that on December 9, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly will consider the establishment of Thu Duc City in Ho Chi Minh City.
