This is the first time in 63 years of history that the temperature in Sa Pa (Lao Cai) has dropped to such a low and unusual level.
This morning, September 4, 2020, Sa Pa’s temperature dropped to 12.9 degrees C, the coldest compared to the same period in 63 years.
That is the judgment of engineer Luu Minh Hai, Director of the Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station.
On September 3, the warm low-pressure zone in the west caused hot weather that affected Lao Cai province with stable intensity. The large-scale hot sun covers the lowlands and some western areas of the province with popular highs of 35-37 degrees Celsius, while the upper wind divergence field becomes stronger. At night, the sky is less cloudy, causing a great radiation of heat from the ground, causing the temperature to drop; High mountain areas fell harder.
At 7:00 am on September 4, the Sa Pa Meteorological Station observed that the lowest temperature dropped to 12.9 degrees Celsius.
This is the first time in the history of the data series observed from 1957 to now, in the same period in early September, the temperature in Sa Pa has dropped to such an abnormal level.
This is likely to be the sign that winter 2020 will arrive earlier and colder than last winter.
