The Vietnamese tank team will use the yellow “steed” T-72B3 in the “Tank Warfare” contest of the 2020 Army Games.

The T-72B3 is one of the most powerful tanks on the Russian army payroll today.

The T-72B3 version is said to possess nearly the same power as the T-90 super tank when equipped with Relikt explosive response armor, advanced fire control systems, and turbocharged diesel engines.

The T-72B weighs 44.5 tonnes, measures 6.95 m long, 2.2 m high with a crew of 3. This is a variant of the legendary T-72 tank, the version of the main tank that “broke into” the Soviet Army. Later, Russia continued to improve the T-72B in many versions, including the T-72B3, T-90 … and it is still in use today.

Final competition mode “Tank proceeds”

Participation in the final round has 3 crews for each team and each team uses only one T-72B3 tank. Each team runs 4 laps, including overcoming obstacles and destroying 8 specific objectives. Specifically, the artillery rounds carried out with 3 targets No. 12 (tank simulation) with the distance respectively: 1,600, 1,700, 1,800 meters; The 12.7mm machine gun firing ring for target 25 (simulation helicopter) with a range of 800 to 1,000 meters and Stela 11 (simulation of anti-tank guns) has a range of 800 to 1,000 meters; The PKT machine gun firing ring with 3 9 stelae (simulating anti-tank guns) has a range of 600 – 800 meters and a sprint run.

The order of the rounds is based on the results of the draw approximately 1 hour before the match. Upon completion of the test, the first crew will transfer the tank to the second crew and so on to the third crew. The final result will be the total time of the 3 crews to complete the round.

A special characteristic of the relay race in the final is that in addition to the effort in the competition, it is also the coordination and understanding of the ideas of the crews during the team change process. Each team, after completing all the loops, must stop the tank before the starting line with the vehicle body in the middle of the two limit columns. The crew turns off the engine, gets out of the car, takes off their hats, hooks the car in place for the helmet, and closes the car door.
