Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel described the abduction of 49-year-old Governor Whitmer as “a serious threat,” the AFP news agency reported. According to US prosecutors, six of them planned to kidnap Whitmer from his vacation home.
This group met regularly during the summer to practice shooting, fighting, and building explosive teams. They tracked down Ms. Whitmer’s vacation home in August and September 2020, even planning to plant bombs under a bridge to cause an explosion and distract nearby authorities.
The FBI and Michigan police arrested these six people on October 7.
The remaining subjects were identified as Wolverine Watchmen, also charged with conspiracy to kidnap Ms. Whitmer and conspiracy to attack the Michigan state parliament building. This group faces complaints of acts of terror and violence.

Speaking about the incident, Ms. Whitmer thanked the police for breaking up the plot. He also criticized the fact that President Donald Trump in the presidential debate was not harsh on white elite groups and hostile groups.
Governor Whitmer has been repeatedly criticized by Trump as of late for forcefully shutting down the state of Michigan to combat COVID-19. Right-wing groups have protested against regulations that force residents to stay in Ms. Whitmer’s home. “Let’s free Michigan,” Trump once wrote on Twitter on 4-2020.
