Mr. Huynh Van Hoang from Quang Trung Street, Go Vap District, said that four years ago, when his mother passed away at the age of 76, he deposited ashes at Ky Quang 2 Pagoda. Mr. Hoang wanted to lift the urn to see if it was numbered, but did not do so because he feared it would affect the spirits of the deceased. The administrator and the abbot of the temple asked, but they told him they were outside.

The incident was later broadcast on the internet, prompting many people to send urns containing the ashes of their loved ones to the temple to ask the temple representative to respond, on the morning of September 3.

“Looking at the nameless urns lying on the ground in a corner of the basement is pitiful. We need a satisfactory explanation from the temple representative,” said a relative.

According to the people, the relatives who died after the cremation of the ashes will be placed in ceramic jars. Ky Quang 2 pagoda, upon receiving ashes, will worship.

Families with favorable conditions will be replaced by the pagoda with a more beautiful white stone jug. The organization of the ceremony to bring the ashes to the temple is happy to return the expenses to the temple, without a specific contribution. From March until now, due to the influence of Covid-19, most of the relatives have not come to the temple to worship.

On the afternoon of September 3, representatives from the 17th District People’s Committee, Go Vap District and the people went to Ky Quang 2 Pagoda to count the number and current status of the ashes. According to the work report, the number of ashes in the temple is 883 jars; in which there are 302 jar bones in the cellar, 581 of the white stone jar (of which there are 108 bone jars with pictures or tables).

Speaking to the press, the venerable Thich Thien Chieu, abbot of Ky Quang 2 Pagoda, said that he returned to the pagoda since 1975. In the process of carrying out Buddhist activities, many Buddhists aspire to worship their relatives. in the temple.

During the time of adoration, “the temple takes care of the part of the ceremony to pray, does not accept any expense.” Over time, the place where the worship remains became damaged and dirty, so starting in March, the pagoda decided to build and repair. During this process, “there are ballot boxes that have fallen images” or there are ballot boxes that do not have a previous image.

“As abbot, I am responsible and I apologize to everyone. I hope that everyone will let me do my best, repair and rebuild the place of worship in a dignified spirit,” Venerable Thich Thien Chieu said.

The pagoda promises to overcome and organize the solemn cult of the spirit before August 15 of the lunar calendar. The jars have no tablets or pictures, and the pagoda will coordinate with relatives to examine the DNA. Ballot boxes without a default name will be placed below. This also ensures pure and solemn worship.

Ky Quang 2 Pagoda was built in 1926, originally named Thanh Chau Tu, which was a village temple in Go Vap district. In 2000, the pagoda was completely built on an area of ​​almost 7,500 m2. All the architecture was designed by Venerable Thich Thien Chieu.
