Nguyen Van Vu, 51, was arrested as he continued to cut cotton paper stalks in the city of Vung Tau to sell nursery seeds, on the morning of the third lunar new year.

At 1 p.m. on February 14, the patrol police discovered that Vu (living in Long Son Commune, Vung Tau City) was carrying a hand saw, a sack, was driving a motorcycle to 2 de September. Five years planted in the central strip.

Before that, in early February, employees of the Vung Tau Urban and Green Park Development Joint Stock Company discovered 18 cotton paper pillars 13-15 years old, 2 meters tall, blooming and cut off a stem. Some 2-year-old betel trees planted under oil palms were also cut down in the median of the 9 September highway.
Additionally, 4-year-old Taiwanese eagles, 20-22cm in diameter and 3m tall in Long Son Commune, were carved around the base, dying.
