HCMCThe cushion of the Metro N ° 1 viaduct beam that fell from its installation position has been corrected by fitting a new rubber cushion; the entire project will be reviewed.
The information was reported by the HCM City Urban Rail Administration Board (MAUR – investor) on the morning of November 11, after inspecting and evaluating the case with the general contractor and the consultant. The incident occurred on the P14-10 pillar, part of the VD14 viaduct, located near the Coca-Cola slope on the Hanoi highway, Thu Duc district, of the CP2 package (air and depot) Line 1 of the subway (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien), run by the Sumitomo – Cienco6 (SCC) joint venture.
MAUR said the problem is currently solved by fitting a new rubber pad to keep the bridge girder stable during inspection and determination of the cause. Yesterday, the investor asked the NJPT consortium (the project’s consultant and supervisor) to provide all the case files to verify and review the quality in the tender package.
SCC’s general contractor reported the incident to the investor as “unique, only happened in one position.” However, MAUR requires continuous inspection and strict treatment, so the project must follow the progress and absolutely guarantee the quality of the project. “The project has not been handed over to the investor, so the SCC general contractor will be responsible for the quality as well as the inspection and repair,” said the MAUR representative.
Earlier, in the late October inspection, MAUR found that the rubber bearing (left pillow in the direction of Ben Thanh to Suoi Tien) of the viaduct beam installed 4 years ago fell off. This causes the top rail to fail and disconnect from the bottom bracket system; The concrete of the track cushion in this position is also cracked.
The incident is assessed to have the risk of partial beam bearing fracture when subjected to a strong impact, affecting many other elements. This problem also affects the longevity of the construction and the risk of loss of security when running Line 1 of the Metro.
