On the night of October 20, Huong Hoa District Police Chief, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Ho Sy Nhung, confirmed that this district police mission had brought the body of Captain Truong Van Thang (31 years old, Police from the Huong Viet Border Commune, Huong Hoa District, died on the way to find missing persons in the area isolated by landslide in Huong Viet Commune) abroad.

Currently, Captain Thang’s body is temporarily held in Huong Phung Commune, 20 km from the center of the district, and is then removed by specialized vehicles.

According to Mr. Nhung, for 8 consecutive hours, the mission took turns burying Captain Truong Van Thang’s body on a mountain road, crossing the Laos border, and then returning to Huong Phung Commune.

Before that, Captain Truong Van Thang and a group of officials from the Huong Viet Commune People’s Committee went to search for some people who were missing due to the floods. Suddenly, when crossing an overflowing bridge, the group of pictures of the commune was swept away. Captain Thang died. Three other officials of the commune were injured. Four other officers were swept missing but returned later.

However, because the Huong Viet commune area was completely isolated in recent days, Captain Thang’s body could not be carried outside for burial.

For two officers, the Under Secretary for Border Security and Mr. Ho Van Sinh, the president of the commune who was injured, the Border Guard force will soon follow the forest road similar to the police task force on the move.

On October 19, the plan was implemented to send a team to cut the forest across the Laos border and then to the isolated area to take Captain Thang out on the forest road.
