A Twitter account posted video of birds colliding with the Hai Air Force jet carrying the vice president of the United States, causing the engine to fire and the plane to spin.
The MHT Aviation Twitter account posted a video on September 22 showing Air Force Two with US Vice President Mike Pence taking off from Manchester Airport in New Hampshire. Seconds later, a bird collided with the plane’s right engine, causing the engine to fire.
Until the end of the 28-second video, the plane continues to fly. However, the plane had to return to the airport due to an engine failure. Mr. Pence’s office also confirmed that the plane crashed into a bird.
After the plane landed, the crew got out to check one of the engines. The vice president got off the airport for a few minutes and then returned to the plane. He continued to get off the plane a second time and walked to the opposite side to check the engine and crew.
Nobody was hurt in the incident. The vice president and his entourage boarded a cargo plane to return to Washington. Pence attended a campaign event in Gilford, New Hampshire, before boarding Air Force Two. The White House has yet to comment on the incident.
The Trump campaign ranks New Hampshire as one of the few states where they can switch their support from Democrats to Republicans in the upcoming November election. Trump lost in the state in 2016 by a difference of almost 3,000 votes.
In 2016, Pence’s field plane also jumped off the runway at Laguardia airport in New York City, but he and others on board were not injured.
