Terrifying memory
On the morning of October 15, Binh Dien General Hospital (Huong Tra City, Thua Thien Hue) is still treating 5 lucky patients who escaped death after the previous Rao Trang 3 hydroelectric collapse.
As one of the lucky ones to return from the dead, Ho Van Thoan (27, a resident of Dak Rong district, Quang Tri) has not been stunned so far after his journey through dozens of kilometers of forest roads that they move away from the landslide area. Rao Trang 3 Hydropower Station to Rao Trang 4 Hydropower Station, where there are functional forces to rescue.
Many days ago, in the hydroelectric area of Rao Trang 3, torrential rains appeared. To guarantee the safety of the workers and technicians in the hydroelectric area, the people divided into several groups to take refuge in the area of the technical house and some tents in the high hills.
Ho Van Thoan recalled: Late one night on October 12, Thoàn and 6 workers were sleeping in the neighboring camp when they heard an explosion.
Immediately after that, tons of mud, dirt, and rocks poured out from all over the camp, flattening the camp. In a row after that, many more minutes, the floods added floods, the ground continued to sweep away everything in the camp, including 7 workers who were in hiding.
Not in time to recover, Thoàn yelled “Where are you!”
In response, a few hours of feeble help was heard through the spongy mud. In the middle of the night, Mr. Thoan fumbled to gather 6 more people to climb quickly and avoid the flood that could continue to sweep away.
“After the flash flood, all the brothers in the camp were scratched, their clothes were torn. Some people walked dozens of meters away from the camp. The scene at that time could only use the word tan; the ground was overlapping, trees and rocks were scattered everywhere, “recalled Ho Van Thoan.
Mr. Ho Van Dieu (26 years old, living in Quang Tri) recalls, after 7 workers got together, Dieu and Thoan took one more person to the high mountain area, where there were no landslides. Until dawn, 7 workers in the accident immediately moved to find the Rao Trang 4 area.
On the way, 7 lucky workers approached a hydroelectric car and immediately moved towards Rao Trang 4. The team left a bit, due to the landslide, all had to move by boat.
At approximately 10:00 am on October 13, the aforementioned group of workers approached the Rao Trang 4 hydroelectric plant and was rescued by the rescue team outside on the morning of October 14.
Help each other in tribulation
As they headed to the Rao Trang 4 hydroelectric power area, Ho Van Thoan’s group was tired of the cold weather and the injuries had ended.
Perhaps the most severe is Mr. Nguyen Dinh Minh (63, from Quang Tri). Minh said that when the flash flood hit, rock and soil smashed against Mr. Minh’s body. During the tribulation, Ho Van Thoan’s brothers helped Mr. Minh and then together they sought a rescue.
Similarly, in the case of Mr. Ho Van Trieu (25 years old), a sprain after a flash flood, it is almost impossible to go. On their journey, Thoan’s group of people took turns leading Trieu and Minh across the hill.
During their trip, the lucky ones picked up some packets of instant noodles and shared them.
As soon as they reached the hydroelectric area of Rao Trang 4, on the afternoon of October 14, the rescue team approached the victims and took out the 7 people in danger.
According to the Binh Dien General Hospital report, 5 victims were treated in hospitals named Nguyen Thanh Quoc, Ho Van Dieu, Ho Van Thoan, Nguyen Dinh Minh and Ho Van Trieu.
