On the afternoon of October 20, continuing with the agenda of the tenth session, the National Assembly heard the Government’s reports on the execution of the State budget in 2020, the State budget estimates and the central budget allocation plan in 2021; the implementation of the national five-year financial plan 2016-2020 and the orientation of the five-year national financial plan 2021-2025.

Authorized by the prime minister, Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung said that the proposed government in 2021, has not yet made any adjustments. Salary increase base 1.49 million to 1.6 million.

In addition, the Government has proposed not to adjust the poverty line in 2021 to focus resources on preventing the Covid-19 epidemic and some other urgent problems.

Introducing the verification report, the chairman of the Finance and Budget Commission, Nguyen Duc Hai, said that most of the commission’s views basically agreed with the government’s proposal.

“However, some opinions suggest consideration for retirees from 1993 and earlier, because most of them have very low pensions, old age and a difficult life” – Mr. Nguyen Duc Hai said.

The base salary adjustment according to the roadmap increases from 1.49 million to 1.6 million from 1-7-2020. However, in the ninth session of the XIV National Assembly, the Government has asked not to increase the base salary from July 1 to 2020. After that, the National Assembly voted to approve the base salary that will not increase from 1-7- 2020.

With the previous government proposal, if approved by the National Assembly in this tenth session, the salary increase for civil servants, public employees, armed forces and workers will be postponed for another year.
