Floods are particularly large in the Quang Tri rivers, surpassing historic flood peaks
At 0:00 on October 18, the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasts was to publish news of especially large floods in the rivers of Quang Tri Province. Consequently, the water level at 23:00 on October 17 in the Hieu and Thach Han River was above alarm level 3 from 1.16 m to 1.38 m.
The National Center for Hydrometeorological Prediction of flooding in the Quang Tri rivers continues to grow rapidly. Specifically, In the next 6-12 hours, the water level is forecast in the Thach Han River at Thach Han Station at 7.7 m, 1.7 m above the alarm level, 0.41 m above the historic 1999 flood peak.
At the Hieu River in Dong Ha, it will rise to 5.7 m, 1.7 m above alarm level 3, higher than the peak flooding on October 8, 2020 (this peak flooding has exceeded the flood historical 1983).
The National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasts emphasizes the very high risk of flash floods and floods in Huong Hoa and Dakrong districts. At the same time, serious large-scale flooding occurs in low-lying areas, plains of Vinh Linh, Gio Linh, Cam Lo, Trieu Phong, Hai Lang, Dong Ha City and Quang Tri City districts.
