Ms. Liu has worked in the isolation ward of a hospital in Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province, since March 4 and is responsible for collecting samples from quarantined people. According to the Shaanxi Province team of medical experts, Ms. Liu may have contracted the samples from patients at the hospital.

Approximately 33 employees who worked with this woman tested positive and focused on isolation and follow-up.

Leaf Health times citing epidemiologist Zeng Guang as saying that the protection rate of the vaccine is not 100%, it only helps people to get vaccinated more safely against COVID-19, not completely immune. Mr. Zeng also reassured people about the domestic vaccine, saying that working in high-risk areas like Ms. Liu is still likely to get sick even after getting vaccinated.

“Domestic vaccines are up to 90% effective in preventing severe cases and the overall protection rate is higher than 70%,” said the expert.

China currently has four domestic COVID-19 vaccines in use, of which two from CanSino Biologics Inc (CanSinoBIO) and the Wuhan Biological Products Institute were approved in February 2021. The Sinovac Biotech range was also approved in February 2021 , while the Sinopharm model received a license last year.
