Diep’s biological father and also his daughter’s liver donor almost 17 years ago, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Phong, 48, said that his daughter, Nguyen Thi Diep, passed away on November 29 in her hometown of Hai. Hau, Nam Dinh,

Diep spent this entire year in Hospital 103 due to a damaged liver transplant that required a second transplant. This is also the place where Diep has been most of his short life: he received his first liver transplant in 2004 in Here, when Diep was 9 years old, he received medical care for many years after that, he went to middle school in pharmacy and was accepted to work in the Department of Oriental Medicine at Hospital 103.

The liver transplant of the Diep girl with congenital atrophy is considered a historic transplant, performed in early 2004 by doctors from Hospital 103 and the Military Medical Academy.

This is the first liver transplant to be performed in Vietnam. Therefore, in addition to the support of foreign experts, there is also the active coordination of teams of more than 100 people in the country, all of them leading experts.

The transplant was an unexpected success, when the little girl, after the transplant, returned to school and later became an employee of the hospital where Diep was reborn.

Last October, Diep’s family said that the liver transplant had been damaged after nearly 17 years, doctors are preparing a second transplant for Diep.

In 2020, Diep loses a lot of weight, has yellow skin, the entire liver is fibrosis, her parents hope that their daughter will be reborn again. But the last miracle did not come.

Since the 2004 transplant for Diep, liver transplantation has become a familiar technique that is routinely performed in many hospitals in Vietnam.

After performing a liver transplant (the second organ transplant technique performed in Vietnam after a kidney transplant), Vietnamese doctors have performed heart transplantation, lung transplant, small intestine transplant, limb transplant … and improve the quality of life of many sick people.
