Republicans argue that a software bug in a Michigan town could have caused at least 6,000 votes for President Donald Trump to be counted for Democratic rival Joe Biden.

According to Dailymai, this software bug was discovered by election officials in Antrim County, Michigan, on November 4. Republicans in Michigan say the software bugs caused 6,000 votes for Trump to be counted for his rival Biden.

Once discovered, local election officials fixed the software bug, and the results showed that Trump had a 2,000-vote lead in the county.

However, in a press conference on Nov. 6, Michigan Republican President Laura Cox said that outside of Antrim County, 47 other Michigan counties also use the same software. He then suggested that these localities closely check the election results if there are any questionable.

According to Fox News, Biden prevailed over Trump in the state of Michigan on the battlefield with 50.6% and 47.9% respectively. Republicans in Michigan did not specify which system was regularly used to count votes, but spokeswoman Tony Zammit said the system was not in use under Cox, who took office in 2019.

Michigan is one of the battlefield states that has major implications for this year’s US presidential election. The victory in Wisconsin, Michigan and dominance in Georgia, Pennsylvania, gave Biden more opportunities to become the next president of the United States.
