On November 21, the Security and Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security said that it had completed the conclusion of the investigation into the Hanoi “seizure of state secret documents” case.
At the same time, the Investigative Security Agency transferred the entire file to the Supreme People’s Prosecutor’s Office to prosecute the crime of “appropriation of secret State documents” provided for in article 337 of the Penal Code, by Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung.
In the same case, the Investigative Security Agency also proposed to prosecute 3 defendants: Nguyen Anh Ngoc (46 years old), who works in the editorial secretariat, the aid team of the Hanoi People’s Committee; Nguyen Hoang Trung (37 years old), driver of Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung, who is also an expert in the drafting room and secretary of the Hanoi People’s Committee office, and Pham Quang Dung (37 years old), a C03 police officer , Police.
Previously, the four defendants were tried, arrested and detained on suspicion of the appropriation of confidential documents related to the Nhat Cuong case.
Major General To An Xo, head of the bureau, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security, said that according to the initial investigation, Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung was involved in three cases:
– The appropriation of secret State documents that the Investigative Security Agency of the Ministry of Public Security has processed.
– The smuggling case – violation of accounting rules has serious consequences – money laundering – violation of tender rules with serious consequences – occurred at Nhat Cuong Trading and Technical Services Co., Ltd. (Nhat Cuong Company) , Hanoi Planning and Investment Department and various related units.
– The case of violation of the regulations on the administration and use of state property that caused loss and waste occurred in the city of Hanoi.
On August 11, 2020, the Politburo decided to suspend the activities of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee and to suspend the post of undersecretary of the Hanoi Party Committee to Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung to confirm . clarification of Mr. Chung’s related responsibilities in various cases in accordance with the law.
On the same day as August 11, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed a decision to suspend Mr. Chung’s work.
The decision states: suspend Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung, chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, to verify and clarify Mr. Chung’s related responsibilities in some cases in accordance with the law. .
Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung was born in 1967. Before becoming chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, he was director of the city police, the rank of major general. Before that, he was deputy director, head of the Hanoi Police Investigative Police Agency.
