Three blue Metro No. 1 wagons, made in Japan, made of aluminum alloy, each 21 m long and weighing 37 tons, docked at Khanh Hoi Port, District 4, at 8 am on October 8.
These are three carriages belonging to the first train of the 51 carriages of Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) that arrive in Ho Chi Minh City after more than a week leaving the port of Kasado (Japan). The sea shipping process is handled by Mitsui OSK Kinkai, Ltd, a subcontractor for the project.
The wagons were transported by specialized boats, then towed up the Saigon River to Khanh Hoi port (belonging to the Saigon port). Upon arrival at the port, it will take approximately 2 hours for the carrier to dismantle and transfer the transport supercar to the Long Binh depot (ship repair and maintenance site) in District 9, scheduled for October 10.
Do Van Minh, CEO of Gemadept Joint Stock Company, the unit in charge of transportation when the train arrives in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the wagons will be transported to the Long Binh depot over a distance of more than 25 km, according to the routes. : Nguyen Tat Thanh – Ton Duc Thang – Nguyen Huu Canh – Nguyen Co Thach – Mai Chi Tho – Hanoi Highway – Highway 1 – Highway No. 400 – Hoang Huu Nam – Highway No. 11.
To transport wagons, the super-long car complex has been prepared at Khanh Hoi port which includes tractors and dedicated 12-axle hydraulic trailers interconnected with a towing capacity of 250 tons.
The Metro No. 1 train is 61.5 m long, 4 m wide, 3 m high, and can carry 930 passengers (147 seats and 783 standing passengers). The maximum speed of the train is 110 km / h (aerial section) and 80 km / h (underground section). The interior design of the boat is suitable for guest use, easy to clean and maintain. The train seats are blue, with seats for the elderly, pregnant women and assistive devices (wheelchairs).
The cabin is arranged at both ends of the train with the width of the car, with the emergency exit in front. Console switches are designed within easy reach of the driver. The data logger located in each cabin is used to monitor and record train activities (speed, control method …), to verify in case of incidents.
Previously, the plan to bring the first train to Vietnam from the beginning of April had to be postponed because Covid-19 prevented the entry of Japanese installation experts. At this time of importation, 6 Japanese experts entered Ho Chi Minh City on September 18, quarantined for 14 days, to prepare for the assembly and operation of the ship.
The production of trains, rails, electromechanical equipment … in the CP3 package of the Metro Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien project, currently reaches 61% of the volume and is expected to increase to 80% by the end of this year.
The remaining three main tender packages include: CP1a (underground section from Ben Thanh Station to the Opera – District 1), CP1b (underground section from the Opera to Ba Son Station – District 1), CP2 (up high and deposit) at 76%, 88% and 86%, respectively. The Metro No. 1 project currently reaches 77% and aims to enter into operation by the end of 2021.
