On the afternoon of September 16, the Fire Prevention and Control Command Office, Quang Ngai Province, said, to deal with storm No. 5, the provincial authorities have contacted, instructed and announced the direction of the storm for all ships of this province while they are at sea to seek a safe haven.

Before Typhoon No. 5 landed, Quang Ngai Province tried to communicate with all ships and boats in all waters. On the afternoon of the same day (September 16) there were 42 boats / 243 people who could not be contacted. Currently, the guard station and border guard station in Sa Ky (Quang Ngai) port are trying to contact the aforementioned fishing boats and fishermen.

According to the Quang Ngai Province Rescue and Information Command Office, the province’s fishing vessel still operates in the sea areas with 1,141 vessels and about 9,000 employees.

Consequently, the largest number of ships and vessels is in Hoang Sa, with 283 ships / 1,981 employees; Truong Sa provides water to 214 / 3,347 employees; coastal areas of Quang Ngai province 365 ships / 1,941 employees; the North Sea was 131 ships / 858 employees and the South Sea was 148 ships / 920 employees. Furthermore, Quang Ngai Province still has more than 1,200 hectares of summer and autumn rice crops.

On the afternoon of September 16, Mr. Dang Ngoc Dung, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee, sent documents to towns, departments and branches to respond to Typhoon No. 5.

Consequently, the Quang Ngai Province People’s Committee requested that as of 1:00 p.m. on September 17, all ships and boats should not go to sea, not even means of transportation from the mainland to the Ly Son island and vice versa.

Furthermore, to cope with Typhoon No. 5, Quang Ngai Province requires relevant branches to prepare facilities and manpower to rescue and evacuate people when necessary. In particular, Quang Ngai Province pointed out that the evacuation site must ensure safety.
