Search and rescue forces were ordered to halt the search for missing persons at the Rao Trang 3 hydroelectric power station due to heavy rains.
On the morning of October 25, Mr. Phan Thien Dinh, vice president of the Provincial People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue, said that the province and the Advanced Search and Rescue Command of the IV Military Region 4 had ordered the withdrawal of the entire force from search and rescue at the hydroelectric power station. According to forecasts, from the afternoon of October 25 in the Rao Trang 3 hydroelectric area, there will be heavy rains. The heavy rains are expected to last until October 29.
On October 25, the search force stopped the search to repair the machines. On the afternoon of the same day, the entire search and rescue force withdrew to the city of Hue for water to ensure safety.
Only more than 30 workers will be left behind to operate the Rao Trang 4 hydroelectric power station.
Dinh said that by the end of October 29, when the weather is clear, all search and rescue forces will return to the Rao Trang 3 hydroelectric power area to search and rescue.
There are still 12 missing workers in this hydroelectric zone due to landslides that buried operators, camps and 17 workers on October 12.
