A few days later, Bang showed Mr. Binh the request to facilitate the issuance of plates signed by the authorities. Due to his trust, Mr. Binh continued to order license plate “399.99”, “688.88” with an amount of up to 900 million dong and cola “888.99” with a cost of 450 million dong.
After a while, Bang said that he could only get the “E” sign and he ordered from the “flea market” 3 sets of license plates with the numbers mentioned above to deliver to Mr. Binh, at the same time, he would wait for the papers later .
Suspecting that the above 3 sets of license plates are false, Mr. Binh accessed the system of car license plates that had been issued by the authorities, then discovered that these license plates were registered with someone else’s name. Being money recovered, Bang has just returned around 1 billion VND and also appropriated 506 million VND from the victims.
With the trick of renting a car and selling it, in mid-2017 Nguyen Van Bang rented a car from Ngo Minh Co., Ltd. and sold it. The defendant chose a car like Honda CRV, Mercedes Benz and sold it for a price of 550 million dong to 1.4 billion dong.
Furthermore, Bang also rented a car and then leased it to others for a long term (about 1 year) to receive a deposit of 400 million VND to 550 million VND. After that, Bang took advantage of the reason for the car to be periodically checked to get it back and pay the car rental company to steal the victim’s deposit.
Another case, about August 2017, Mr. Do Minh Đ. If you want to buy imported cars, you should ask Bang. Although there is no source of information, the defendant still complained that the Lexus car brand imported the full version worth VND 2.7 billion and made 45 days of delivery. After Mr. V. transferred the money, Bang made an appointment for his son to undergo a medical examination and await the hiring decision from the authorities. Some time later, the accused made an appointment for the victim to come to his home and showed him the envelope with the name of the Traffic Police, with the stamp sent to the victim’s son.
The defendant continued to inform the victim of the good news that he had decided to recruit but had to work in the Northwest region and if he wanted to work in Hanoi or Nghe An, it would cost him 200 million VND more. Mr. V. agrees to transfer money but all fails and Bang appropriates the money a second time.
With the above method, Bang has also fooled many more people who want to apply for jobs in state agencies.
During the period from 2012 to 2017, Bang received an amount of VND 23.3 billion from 44 victims.
After thoroughly reviewing the content of the case, the Hanoi People’s Court decided to sentence Nguyen Van Bang to 20 years in prison on the indictment and trial charges.
