According to Reuters, Cho Ju Bin, 24, has blackmailed at least 74 women, including 16 minors. Authorities call this a form of “virtual (sexual) slavery” because the name forces them to submit depraved photographs between May 2019 and February 2020.
The Seoul Central Court jailed Cho Ju Bin for violating criminal laws and protecting children through depraved movies and organized crime.
“The defendant has caught and threatened many victims in various ways to create depraved films and distribute them to many people over a long period of time. He inflicted irreversible damage on the victims because of his publicity of identity,” Yonhap news agency reported.
This case has caused frustration across South Korea, with millions of South Koreans signed on urging authorities to release the identity of the criminal. They also asked to investigate not only the organized gang but also the network participants who paid around 1.5 million won (more than 31 million dong) to view the photos and videos.
Police said at least 124 suspects were arrested in the case. A total of 18 people who operate chat rooms on Telegram and other social networks, including the name Cho Ju Bin, have been jailed following investigations of similar cases since last year.
