The device, called the Bio Detector, was exhibited by the KMZ factory at the “Army 2020” military-industrial forum near Moscow on August 28. The product development team includes the Moscow Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, the world’s leading producer of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Bio Detector looks like a refrigerator, because it is designed to contain many small laboratory compartments, each with its own tests. This allows the device to detect the corona virus or any other airborne hazard and run two scan cycles to get clear results.
In the first phase, the device collects samples in ambient air and, in about 10-15 seconds, any trace of viruses, bacteria or toxins can be alarmed. At this stage of treatment, it is not yet possible to specify the name of the detected pathogen.
The device then analyzes the samples in detail to determine which bacteria or substances are present. This process takes between 1 and 2 hours. The initial goal of the manufacturer is to install this product in public places, including metro stations, train stations and airports.
