Wayne is the largest county in the state of Michigan. Detroit, a city with a large population of African descent, is also in this county.
The Republican letter was sent as Wayne County became the focus of President Donald Trump’s attempt to reverse the election results.
As confirmed by the US media, current results show that the Democratic Party candidate, Mr. Joe Biden, is the winner.
In response, a Michigan official said the new test was not regulated by state law.
Two Republicans from the Wayne Elections Commission attempted to withdraw votes in favor of confirming the results here after receiving a call from Mr. Trump.
In response, Michigan elections official Jocelyn Benson said the confirmation was irreversible.
The Michigan State Elections Commission, consisting of 2 Democrats and 2 Republicans, will meet on November 22 to confirm the results of the vote in this state. They will have 20 days to make a decision.
In the Nov. 21 letter, Republicans demanded a “full and transparent investigation” in Wayne County, for “irregular numbers and credible reports of anomalies in the vote-counting process.” .
When asked about the letter, Michigan spokesman Jake Rollow said state law does not allow the counting of votes before confirming the results.
“Voting plays a different role in elections in Michigan – checking and identifying errors for future improvements,” Rollow said.
However, the spokesperson also said that candidates can request a recount after confirmation, and this may still change the election results.
Current Michigan results show that Biden has 154,187 votes ahead of Trump.
