television KCRA Ms. Shauna Bishop, 44, was reportedly sentenced to 6 months in prison and 5 years of official probation on September 23. She was also asked to register as a sex offender.

The policewoman confessed in June 2019 after the teenager’s family filed a complaint in the city of Folsom. Investigators began tracking Ms. Bishop’s relationship with the student in May 2019, and then police announced the arrest warrant.

During the investigation period, she was still counted as paid leave and then resigned in August 2019. Ms. Bishop is known to be a veteran police officer who worked for 5 years in the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. She did not meet the boy through work or relationships while on duty. Authorities said Ms. Bishop’s criminal actions were unrelated to her police duties.

In another incident, in May 2019, a South Carolina police officer was also accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl on patrol while on duty. However, this person was not sentenced to prison, but was only under house arrest for 3 years. This former police officer was not required to register as a sex offender, but will never again be allowed to work in law enforcement.
