Initially at almost 4:00 pm on the same day, Le Ngoc Phuong Uyen (SN 2008; living in Hoa Lam village, Duy Trung commune, seventh grade student at Luong The Vinh High School) and another student crossed the bridge. In a field area in Trung Dong village (Duy Trung commune), he unfortunately slipped into the water.
Hearing the cry for help, local people rushed to save a person, only Uyen plunged into a deep current. It wasn’t until 5:15 p.m. that day that Uyen’s body was found.
One child saved his life, the other did not survive
It is known that due to heavy rains in recent days, the bridge above has been flooded, until the afternoon of October 18 was not the time to turn back. The Duy Trung commune leader said that most likely, due to the flooding of the water, 2 children could not see the path, so they slipped and fell into the water from above.
As the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper reported, during the October 6-12 flood, Quang Nam province was severely damaged with at least 11 deaths, 5 deaths in Duy Xuyen district alone.
