The defendant’s attorney, Phong, said that the VKS proposed sentence was too heavy and suggested that the Panel consider declaring a three-year prison sentence.
Attorney Tran Thi Ngoc Nu, in defense of the victim’s rights, said that the National Security Institute has forgotten that it did not help the victim after the accident. The defendant also admitted to fleeing the scene, removing the sim phone, asking people who knew of the incident to delete the clips to avoid being discovered by the investigating agency. The attorney also suggested that the Panel consider additional charges for the use of false papers against the defendant, because the use of false papers causes serious consequences. The victim’s attorney asked the Panel to return the additional investigation file to clarify the above facts.
