The Advisory Council for the circulation of medicines proposed to the Ministry of Health to continue with the license of the two Covid-19 vaccines from the US and Russia.
On February 25, the Advisory Council for the registration of drug circulation met and agreed to propose to the Ministry of Health the approval of 2 Covid-19 vaccines, including the Moderna Company vaccine (USA) and the Sputnik V vaccine from JSC Generium (Russia). ) for the urgent need for prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic in Vietnam.
The license is based on article 67 of Government Decree No. 54 / ND-CP of May 8, 2017 that details a series of articles and measures to implement the Pharmaceutical Law.
Modern Covid-19 Vaccine
Currently, Vietnam has only licensed the AstraZeneca vaccine from the UK. These two vaccines will await the approval of the Ministry of Health.
According to the Minister of Health, to meet the demand for Covid-19 vaccination in 2021, Vietnam needs 150 million doses of vaccine.
So far, our country certainly has 60 million doses of AstraZeneca, including 30 million doses sponsored by COVAX, the remaining 30 million doses ordered by Vietnam.
Plus, there could be an additional 30 million doses of the US Pfizer vaccine, but the Health Department is still negotiating.
On the afternoon of February 24, more than 117,000 doses of the first AstraZeneca vaccine arrived at the Tan Son Nhat airport.
For domestic vaccines, Vietnam is still accelerating clinical trials. In which Nanogen is going faster, on February 26 it will start testing phase 2. Two other units, IVAC and VABIOTECH, are also preparing to test phase 1.
