The Prime Minister has just signed a decision approving the investment policy of the investment project in the construction of the Rach Mieu 2 bridge that connects the provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre. The total length of the route is about 17.5 km, the beginning of the intersection of Highway 1 with Provincial Highway 870 in Chau Thanh (Tien Giang) District. The end point connects to Highway 60 on the road leading to Ham Luong Bridge (Ben Tre).
Most of the bridge will cross the main channel of the Tien River, the width of the bridge will reach the scale of 4 motorized lanes, it is expected that the main span will be by cable-stayed bridge structure. As for the bridge over the My Tho River, the main span is expected to be through a continuous girder structure.
In addition, the road section includes a series of medium and small bridges on the designed route with a grade 3 flat road with a design speed of 80 km / h. The cross section meets the size of 4 motorized lanes and 2 mixed lanes, building intersections on the route.
The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is realized in the form of public investment with a total project investment of over VND 5,000 trillion with capital from the central budget.
The investment in the construction of the Rach Mieu Bridge 2 will connect the two provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre according to the approved national road network planning and local planning.
Gradually complete the traffic network in the region to meet the growing demand for transport on Highway 60. Promote socio-economic development, ensure the national defense and security of the two provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Bambúes in particular and the river delta Mekong in general.
