The information was released after the Trump administration faced a wave of criticism for sending only lower-level delegations to participate in the East Asia Summit.
“POTUS (President of the United States) will join APEC,” according to Reuters on 11/18 quoted an unnamed official.
The White House did not comment on the information above, especially in the context that President Trump is busy demanding the results of the Jan.3 election. In the past, the leader had changed his mind at the last minute about participating in similar conferences.
The US official responsible for APEC said last week that the White House has not yet made an official decision on the delegation’s personnel.
CPTPP has the participation of 11 Asia-Pacific countries, representing 13.4% of world GDP. Meanwhile, the RCEP was signed on November 15 in the framework of the 37th ASEAN Summit hosted by Vietnam.
